The Caerphilly Autistic Spectrum Service (CASS) is a unique project that combines the more ‘traditional’ outreach teacher / learning support assistant with home and communication support for children, young people and their families.
This holistic model has focused on developing a joined up, multiagency approach to support young people, families and school where there is a confirmed diagnosis of Autistic spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Service recognises that children and young people diagnosed with an ASD require all who are involved in supporting them to understand their needs and provide consistency and stability in all aspects of their lives. The service offers a range of training for families, schools and other services. Please see the attached leaflet for further details.
Training available to families includes:
NAS Early Bird - Family support training for families of a child with a diagnosis aged 0-4 years. This course is run several times throughout the year as and when required.
NAS Early Bird Plus - Family support training for families of a child with a diagnosis aged 4-8 years. This course is run termly. Please contact the team for details of the next course.
Barnardo’s Cygnet Training - Family support training in Autism for the families of young people aged 5- 18 diagnosed with Autism.
NAS Teen Life Programme - to support families with information and strategies during the teenage years.
To attend any training run by CASS you must book onto the course prior to attending.
