Welcome to Cedar Class!

Croeso i  ddosbarth Cedrwydden

Cedar Class have had an extremely busy Spring Term focusing on the theme of 'Time Travellers'.

We have focused on steam trains as our stimulus for Sensology, with students developing their visual skills through looking at flags moving, listening to train whistles, smelling the burning smell of steam trains and feeling coal. This formed part of our work on the Welsh Heritage Project.

During TACPAC, we have focused on more modern history exploring slinkys, barbie dolls and having a millenium party with corks patted over the hands and arms. These sensory props have been linked with music from the time period.

This term, some students from Cedar watched a production called 'The Isle Of Brimsker' performed by the Frozen Light Theatre Company. This multi-sensory performance was perfect for the students who were engaged throughout the show with each actor, spending time on a 1-1 basis with each member of the audience. Being able to watch a peformance such as this in a local theatre was an amazing opportunity and one which we hope the students will be able to repeat again in the future.

One of our students took part in the Six Nations Festival at the Centre for Excellence this year and the other Cedar students throughly enjoyed supporting him. We also had a visit from Ryan Jones and Darren Carew from the WRU who brough the Six Nations Trophy for us to look at and touch... they were very lucky to get it back in one piece!

Cedar Class also celebrated World Book Day, being a part of School Curriculum's celebrations. They had a visit from Eirian, Sunflower Class's teacher who read the story of Alice in Wonderland which was our sensory story for the half term. Each student responded very well to having a different teacher read the story to them. They also had a visit from the White Rabbit.... who was running very late!

Cedar's Easter celebrations have been split, with some students participating in Learning Pathway's church service and performing an Easter prayer through Big Mac switches, while the younger students have been part of School Curriculum's Easter Assembly and performed the Easter Bunny Hocky Coky!

We are looking forward to the Summer Term, which looks set to be a busy one with students exploring the theme of France for our MFL month before 'Seaside Experiences' We will also be participating in Enterprise Day with Learning Pathways, creating a product to sell.
