Physical Education

'For all pupils to be as physically independent as possible within their community and to prepare them for everyday life challenges; through a fun and varied delivery of physical education.'

Physical Education at Trinity Fields is based on inclusivity and fun for all. PE is taught through a variety of National Curriculum themes with the aim of developing all pupils’ physical literacy abilities. Physical literacy is:

"The motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activity for life".

(International Physical Literacy Association, 2014).

At Trinity Fields we have been working successfully with EAS and the Special Educational Needs PLC in South Wales to develop specific resources and staff training; we are one of only 3 case studies in Wales to target specific physical literacy development within a special needs setting.

Physical literacy at Trinity Fields has promoted development and improvement of pupil movement skills, as well as increased pupils exposure to total communication via adaptive literacy activities through PE games and lessons.

Rotary Welsh Schools Disability Gymnastics Championships 2016

Trinity Fields this term have participated in the Rotary Welsh Schools Disability Gymnastics Championships. Pupils took part in the regional competition at Lewis Boys school on Thursday 25th February 2016 and were among 6 other schools to do so.

Trinity Fields pupils competed exceptionally well and all displayed their amazing talent for gymnastics and hard work that had been put in during PE lessons this year.

Trinity Fields pupils came away with a host of medals and certificates. We are pleased to announce that Trinity Fields pupils came first in the bench and the floor routine, we achieved a second place in the floor routine also and a second place finish in the vault.

This wonderful performance from our pupils meant that we have a regional 1st place champion and 3rd place champion at Trinity Fields this year. The successful two pupils were then selected to take part in the Welsh Finals in Cardiff, where once again they performed exceptionally well.
